Artist's Biography
Frederick Henry Henshaw 1807 -1891
Landscape painter studied under J. V. Barber from the age of fourteen. In 1826 became a member of the Birmingham Society of Artists and in the same year he went to London and studied the works of the major English Landscape painters, especially Turner. In 1837 he travelled on the continent for three years, sketching in France, Germany, Switzerland and Italy.

In 1841 he returned to Birmingham where he remained for the rest of his life, making annual sketching tours. He painted mainly landscapes and occasional portraits and genre scenes in both oil and watercolour.
